This website is run by the team behind Deal in Kent ("we", "us"). This page explains what information we collect when you use Deal in Kent and what we do with it. If you have any questions, email us at graham@dealinkent.com.
Information you send us
If you email us, for example to tell us about an event, we'll use your name and contact details only to reply to you and, if you ask us to, to list your event. We delete emails we no longer need and we never sell your information.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to show adverts on some pages of this site. Adverts help us keep the guide free to read. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show adverts, to measure how they perform, and, if you agree, to personalise them based on your visits to this and other websites.
When you first visit, you'll be asked whether you consent to these cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the link, which also appears at the bottom of every page. You can find out more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can manage personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com.
Visitor statistics
We use Google Analytics to count how many people visit the site, which pages they read and roughly where they come from, so we can see what is useful and improve it. It is only switched on if you agree to analytics cookies in the cookie banner, and it gives us summary figures rather than anything that identifies you personally.
Cookie banner
The cookie banner is provided by CookieHub. It stores your cookie choice on your device so that you aren't asked again on every page, and it passes that choice to Google so that advertising and analytics follow what you agreed to.
Maps
The illustrated map on our map page is drawn by us and sends nothing to anyone. If you choose the street map, your browser fetches map pictures from OpenStreetMap's servers, which means OpenStreetMap receives your IP address and browser details, as any website you visit would. The street map software itself is stored on our own server. OpenStreetMap's privacy policy explains how it handles this information.
Live webcam
The live view of the seafront on our home page is provided by SkylineWebcams. The picture is loaded from SkylineWebcams' servers, so they receive your IP address and browser details when it appears, as any website you visit would. Clicking the picture takes you to SkylineWebcams' own site, which has its own privacy policy.
Fonts and other files
Our fonts and images are stored on our own web server, so loading the site doesn't send your information to font services. Links to other websites, such as the Met Office or event organisers, take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to object to how we use it. Email us and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
