About Deal in Kent
An independent guide to the town of Deal, on the east Kent coast.
What this site is
Deal in Kent is a guide for people visiting Deal, or thinking about it: what to see and do, what's on, where to eat and drink, how to get here and the stories behind the town. It brings together practical information that is otherwise scattered across a dozen websites, with local detail and honest notes about what has changed.
Why we made it
Deal is a town with a great deal to offer: a long shingle beach, two Tudor castles, a 1950s pier, a Georgian old town and a lively market and food scene. We wanted one reliable place that explains it well, that's kept up to date, and that points you to the official source when you need to book or check opening times.
How the guides are made
- We gather facts from official and local sources, such as English Heritage, the Deal Timeball Tower Museum, the venues' own websites, Dover District Council and local news. Our stories list the sources they draw on at the end.
- Opening times, prices and event dates change, so we say when something was checked and ask you to confirm before you travel.
- The What's on page and the programme at The Astor are updated regularly, and events that have passed disappear automatically.
- The maps and illustrations on this site are original. The street map uses OpenStreetMap data.
Who runs it
Deal in Kent is run by the owners of a new holiday let on College Road in Deal, which is coming soon. We tell you whenever we mention it. The guides are written to be useful whether or not you ever stay with us, and we don't take payment to feature venues, events or businesses.
How the site is paid for
We hope to earn a little from Google adverts and from guests who book our holiday let directly. Adverts never influence what we write. You can read how adverts and cookies work on our privacy and cookies page.
